How to spend 3 Days in Port Douglas

The Cayman Villas team has created the ultimate three-day guide for a magnificent Port Douglas trip that may just become one of your favourite holidays to date!

This schedule is ideal if you have been planning a getaway for a while or if you need a mini tropical escape.

This plan allows you make the most of your Tropical North Queensland experience in a short amount of time – but we totally understand if you need to extend your stay! Let’s get into it.

Day One

Morning

Sleep in. You’ll need a slow morning with the adventures planned for today! From your Cayman Villas apartment, take a short stroll to Four Mile Beach for some quiet time in the glorious sunshine. Take a leisurely beach walk or head up to the lookout along a picturesque walking track. Stop into Sparrow Coffee and enjoy a delicious breakfast on Macrossan Street.

Day

Whether you hire a car or book a phenomenal day trip is up to you. We’re heading further north! Explore the beauty of the ancient Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation with a spectacular day in the jungle. Swim in refreshing creeks, check out some beaches, and eat some of the best ice-cream in Queensland. That’s not an exaggeration – this is not a drill!

Evening

Head to the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina for some wind-down drinks at Hemingway’s Brewery or Barbados on the waterfront. You might like to grab a few yummy nibblies before heading back to relax in the air-conditioning! Pack your swimmers, a towel and sunscreen before catching some z’s.

Day Two

Morning

Early rise. Choo Choo’s or Lure at the Marina (just a short stroll from Cayman!) for coffee and a quick bite to eat – off to the Great Barrier Reef we go!

Day

Choose your GBR adventure; the Outer Reef, Low Isles, or a luxury helicopter experience! There are many ways to see this natural wonder of the world, and it’s a journey that you would be silly to miss. Half-day trips are also available if you have other FNQ activities in mind. Remember, GBR experiences must be planned, so get organised to find the perfect trip for you.

Evening

Don’t underestimate just how much energy it takes to snorkel, swim, or scuba dive through the sea in the sunshine all day! Indulge at any of the brilliant dinner restaurants – there’s succulent seafood, fine dining, Italian, Spanish, or Japanese, just to name a few. If you want a good old fashioned pub meal instead, head to the Central Hotel or the Court House Hotel. A chicken parmigiana will go down a treat after today’s escapades.

Day Three

Morning

Perhaps your last day in paradise, perhaps not. It’s pretty normal to get to this stage in your holiday and want to ‘accidentally’ miss your flight home. Not to worry just yet, we still have at least one day of exploring to do! Treat yourself to a Four Mile Beach sunrise and a yoga session with Yoga on the Beach Port Douglas. Not your jam? Head to breaky!

Day

Time to seize the day! You can’t visit Port Doulas without stopping in to cuddle the koalas and feed the snappy crocs or wallabies at the Wildlife Habitat. You can easily spend a few hours here admiring the beautiful animals, especially if you choose to have Lunch with the Lorikeets – yep, that’s a thing! Immerse yourself in the wetlands environment, and enjoy a tasty buffet lunch. Afterwards, cool down at any of our top swimming spots, including the tremendous Mossman Gorge.

Evening

Celebrate your time in TNQ with cocktails! We have some fantastic recommendations for bars; Zinc, Salsa, and Watergate top the list. Most bars listed have an incredible selection of food to choose from, as well. Make the most of your night and then cancel that flight. You know you want to!
