Decadent Desserts in Port Douglas

You heard it here first – dessert is a form of self-care! There’s absolutely nothing in this world that compares to the tantalizing tastes that those after dinner sweets never fail to deliver. Who knew that a chocolate mousse or a tiramisu could bring so much joy into our lives? And not to mention, without being dramatic, brownies are the ultimate godsend that we all need whether we realize it or not.

Have we made it obvious yet how much we adore desserts? We hope so – because Port Douglas is bursting at the seams with fabulous restaurants that offer decadent treats, and we want to share them with you! Read on for the top seven places to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Zinc Restaurant & Lounge

inc Restaurant & Lounge Port Douglas

Zinc has earned its name as one of Port’s most iconic restaurants, so you can imagine how great it feels to get your hands on a plate of their scrumptious desserts! Sit outdoors and feel the warm breeze from Four Mile Beach while you treat yourself to a slice of Chocolate Nemesis – a dark chocolate cake with orange gel, Cointreau jaffa mouse topped with choc crumble. If chocolate’s not your thing (unlikely!) the Banana Cannoli will surely knock your socks off too.

Capannina Gelato

Capinnina Gelato Port Douglas

If you want authentic homemade gelato and you want it fast – Capannina has you covered. Travelers from near and far seriously rave about this place – one Trip advisor guest even went as far to say it’s “the best gelato I’ve tasted, and I’ve tasted gelato in Rome!” You just can’t fake that sort of ice-cream adoration. And if you still don’t believe us, you’ll have to go and try it for yourself.

Sassi Italian Restaurant & Bar

Sassi Port Douglas

So let’s say you’ve spent the evening drinking and swooning over authentic Italian dishes at Sassi La Cucina with your closest friends, and now it’s time to take things up a notch. You picked up the dessert menu only to find your all-time favourite crème brulée – this time though, it’s served with heavenly mango and coconut gelato too! Or maybe you’ll be enticed to try the warm dark chocolate pudding with a white chocolate centre… yep, that’s the one.

Watergate Restaurant

Watergate Lounge & Restaurant Port Douglas

Kaffir lime cheesecake. Sticky date pudding. Oreo mousse cake! How much more do you need to hear?! In our opinion, Watergate is one of Port’s best kept secrets. It’s an elegant location that really takes you to the tropics and delivers out-of-this-world food for lunch, dinner, and most importantly, dessert. For our cocktail lovers, your best bet will be the Chocolate Mint Julep – it’s nothing short of impressive.

Seabean Tapas Restaurant

Sea Bean Tapas Restaurant Port Douglas

If you know what’s good for you, the desserts at Seabean will make it to the top of your PD bucket list! Well, your dining bucket list at least. Not only is this venue in a stunning location on Wharf Street, but the food will make your taste buds jump and dance for joy. One dish that always puts a smile on people’s faces is the coconut catalana – it’s well and truly drool-worthy. Another crowd-pleaser is the chocolate churros. Need we say more?

Dukes Doughnuts

Dukes Doughnuts Port Douglas

Can we tempt you with a freshly homemade doughnut or two? If you can make it to the glorious Sunday Markets during your time in tropical Port Douglas, a quick visit to Duke’s Doughnuts will leave you filling your suitcase with these goodies – your new precious cargo!  Some tasty flavours you might come across include; banoffee, strawberry shortcake, Nutella, jam and coconut just to name a few – they’re mind-blowingly delish!

If this sweet talk doesn’t make your mouth water, we don’t know what will. Indulge and enjoy people – that’s what holidays are all about!
