The spectacular coastline of Cairns and Far North Queensland has been named the Worlds Best Ironman location, and for great reason! This year on June 7th, athletes will endure an unbelievable 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride, and a 42.2km marathon in paradise. Entries are now open for the Cairns Ironman 2020.
Competitors will cycle along the Captain Cook Highway and complete their venture in Cairns on the boardwalk. This race is known as the ‘Race in Paradise,’ and it’s easy to see why! The track follows the World Heritage Listed rainforest and the one-and-only Great Barrier Reef, so the dreamy views all throughout the course are like no other.
If you’re not competing (don’t worry, we aren’t either!), you may know somebody who could do with some cheering on when they take on the challenge in 2020. Otherwise, in Port Douglas, it’s common for crowds to fill the streets in support of the athletes along their grueling journey. We love to see everybody getting out on the streets to show their encouragement for this mammoth effort of an Ironman! We wish the best of luck to all the dedicated competitors.
