Iron Man Asia-Pacific Championship Cairns – June 10th 2018

Running a marathon is not an easy feat, but things are made a little easier when your participating in one of Australia’s top locations with a magical background of the Coral Sea, Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.

Cairns and Port Douglas is one of the most sought after locations to complete an Iron Man – and it’s certainly easy to see why!


IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Cairns – June 10th 2018

Over the last 7 years this event has become the hot spot to participate in an IRONMAN race for all athletes and onlookers around Australia and the world! Commonly referred to as the IRONMAN in Paradise, the breathtaking course is in the backyard of the Great Barrier Reef and Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. This course most certainly lives up to its hype!

The course itself is striking featuring a bike ride on the Captain Cook High Way with a stunning backdrop of the Coral Sea, surrounding islands, the reef and lush green rainforest. Complete the journey with a run along the Cairns Boardwalk and finish up in Cairns city.

In 2018 there are an amazing 80 qualifying slots to the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, making it the best opportunity to qualify in the Asia-Pacific region!

IRONMAN 70.3 Cairns – June 10th 2018

Launched in 2011, this breath-taking course involves a swim in the tropical waters of the Coral Sea, a bike leg that travels up one of the most scenic coastal roads in Australia towards Port Douglas and a run that includes the Cairns boardwalk before finishing in the heart of the city of Cairns.

There are 30 qualifying slots to the 2017 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nelson Mandala Bay, South Africa.

1.9km Swim Course

Competitors begin the 1.9km course at Williams Esplanade, Palm Cove. Athletes can expect a tropical and balmy swim in the calm waters.

90km Bike Course

The well-known bike course along the Captain Cook Highway offers coastal views of the seaside and the beautiful lush rainforest. Cycle past Ellis Beach and Wangetti before reaching the turnaround point in Port Douglas at the palm fringed Rex’s Lookout.

21.1km ASICS Run Course

This is when the action takes place! The finish line is in the centre of Cairns where onlookers will be showing their support. Competitors will past the Cairns Esplanade Lagoon, overlook the stunning Mount Yarrabah, run along the boardwalk and enjoy the beauty of the Esplanade. Supporters will be able to enjoy their surrounds while they cheer on the competitors.
