The Carnivale weekend is being held from the 26-28 May 2017 and is expected to be the biggest and greatest yet with a bunch of new and exciting events as well as the original festival favourites. This year there will even be a giant Ferris Wheel overlooking the Dickson’s Inlet for the duration of the festival!

Watch locals and visitors alike flock to Port Douglas to celebrate the start of the tourism season. There really is something for everyone at this highly anticipated event including arts, entertainment, sports, food & wine, comedy, culture and music.

Party in Paradise

Watch Macrossan Street come alive with the annual street parade on Friday the 26th of May which kicks off the festivities! The theme for this year is ‘Party in Paradise’ so we can expect a fun filled event. Think fire twirlers, stilt walkers, amazing floats and more!

Wonderland Spiegeltent

The captivating Wonderland Spiegeltent is back! This highly talked about entertainment arena is back by popular demand. This year’s events will include:

 

  • Fun, funky & totally out there: La Soiree Circus Act – 19th to 28th May
  • Stand Up Comedy that will leave you in stitches: Jeff Green plus special guests – Thursday 25th May
  • Pheonomenal performance by the famous Carlotta – Friday 26th May
  • A cheeky late night show for 18+: Carnivale Sensualé – Saturday 27th May
  • Lah Lah’s Big Live Band ABC Kids – Sunday 28th May
  • Kids Circus show: Children are Stinky – Sunday 28th May

 

Foodies Paradise

Come and tantalise your tastebuds with an impressive display of local fresh seafood, produce and meats matched with delicious wines at the ‘Paradise on a Plate’ long lunch on Friday the 26th May presented by Asahi. The feasting will take place under the palms at Rex Smeal Park overlooking the Coral Sea – it doesnt get much better than that!

The well-renowned food, music & wine festival ‘Port on a Fork’ is another must for any foodie! Come and eat, drink and dance under the moonlight on Saturday the 27th and enjoy tropical-inspired dishes with local produce from the Hinterland region. Entertainment will be provided – get ready to dance the night away! Internationally renowned music star Ben Lee will be gracing the stages, so get ready for a food, wine & music extravaganza!

Finish off a fantastic weekend with the ‘Port Douglas Fishermans Village Seafood & Music Festival’. Sit back and relax with a tantalising array of fresh local seafood including prawns, oysters and barramundi cooked fresh off the trawler. The entertainment is endless with non-stop performances from 11am until the sun goes down by Ben Lee, Vaudeville Smash, Montogomery Brothers, Hillbilly Goats and more.

Family Fun

We’ve also got kids entertainment covered with our ‘Family Beach Day Party’ on Saturday the 27th of May. Come and enjoy a day of kite flying, sand castle building, markets, art and games appropriate for the whole family to get involved in.

The best way to end a jam-packed weekend is then to grab a picnic blanket, some fish and chips and relax at Rex Smeal park for a gorgeous sunset and star gazing.
